Our Spring Plant Sale is Back!

It's almost time for our annual plant sale! Spring is ready, and so are we!

We've been selling vegetable starts for 10 years and are known for growing strong, healthy, organic plants that perform well in our region. This year, however, is the first time we're running an on-farm sale where you can come to the farm to shop for plants. We'll have all your favourite varieties from years past (plus some new ones), including tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, squash, herbs, lettuce and more!

All our plants are certified organic, which means we use organic and untreated seed (no GMO's) and all organic potting mix (no synthetic fertilizers).

We'll be running the sale over two Saturdays in May, on the 6th and 13th, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, located at our farm in Crofton: 7871 Tatlo Road West.

Hope to see you there!

It's our first (hopefully) annual "Bulk up for Winter Bulk Sale!"

Happy autumn everyone! And what a lovely autumn it is so far... We hope you're enjoying it as much as we are. I just love working in the field on a sunny autumn afternoon, when it's just the right temperature, with a slight breeze, the smells of fall in the air, sweet dry grass and rose hips, all to the chorus of crickets... Don't get me wrong, we're still plenty busy and there's lots to be done, but the promise of less hectic days is near and the work at the moment seems a little less hard.

In the meantime the sunny fall weather is allowing us to work smoothly and efficiently at all the big jobs of the season, including harvesting squash and root crops, and finally planting garlic. And with that said, here is the main reason for this post- we've decided to offer a fall bulk sale a few favourite storage crops, including carrots, garlic, and squash.

We're offering these in bulk quantities only, which, if you have the fridge/ shelf space, will last you well into winter. If not, we encourage you to split a big bag of carrots or a box of squash with a friend. On the other hand, some of you may be looking for even more garlic (we're selling it in 3 lb bags), so in that case please order as many bags as you'd like.

Pick up will be Saturday, October 1, here at our farm. You can order now, but the order cut off is Thursday, September 29.

For more details about what's available and to place an order go to our store.

By all means if you have any questions just let us know. Otherwise we hope to see some of you on October 1. And if not, well, we still wish all of you a happy autumn!

2022 Plant Sale

Happy (early) Spring Everyone!

We hope you are all well and rested! If you're anything like us you can’t wait to get outside and work in the soil (once it’s dry enough!), and with that we're here to help.

Once again this spring we will be growing lots of transplants for your gardens! We will be bringing plants to the Duncan Farmers Market on May 14, but if you want to guarantee a specific plant order then we recommend placing a pre-order for pick up at our farm on Saturday, May 7 (sorry no pre-orders for pick up at the farmers market).

We're known for growing strong, healthy transplants suited to our region and we focus on "hard" to start plants (unless you have a heated greenhouse of your own); plants such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and more. For the first time, this year we will also be growing 6-cell packs of red and green lettuces (the same beautiful lettuce we have at market all summer!). They are “cut and come again types” and are perfect for spring planting.

To see a full list of plants and to place an order go to this link and fill out the form: tatloroadfarm.com/plant-sale

If you'd rather not place an order rest assured we will have some plants at market on May 14, but varieties may be limited. We may also have other vegetable starts, such as onions, available later in May. If so, we will update you via our newsletter. But to guarantee specific plants we recommend placing an order soon at the link above.

Meanwhile if you have raised beds or your own garden is dry enough, now it the time to direct seed peas, radishes, spinach, and kale. If you don't have seed already consider ordering from the BC Eco Seed Co-op to support our local seed producers!
